The Embassy of Costa Rica celebrates the 22nd Anniversary of the creation of the Division of Latin America and the Caribbean of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Throughout 22 years, Latin America and the Caribbean have had a profound relationship with the Republic of Korea, one of which was strengthened throughout time. Costa Rica, its peoples and government, appreciates the relationship and their assistance and experience in economic and social development. We congratulate with a profound sense of appreciation to the authorities of the Division of Latin America and the Caribbean Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.
For a second consecutive year THE 2018 COMPETITIVE GOVERNANCE REPORT by the National University of Seoul(SNU), Costa Rica is highlighted for its good standing The Embassy of Costa Rica participated on Oct 26 in a panel organized by the Center for Government Competitiveness of the Seoul National University to inform of the main results corresponding to the 2018 Government Competitiveness Report, recently published. The report analyzes the rol and capacities of governments in their national development. Costa Rica was placed #2 out of 87 non OECD countries highlighting its efforts in governance, environment, education, security and economy.
The Embassy of Costa Rica in Korea participates in the relaunch of the Latin America Plaza Last November 1st, the Latin America Plaza was re-inaugurated. On October 15th 2004, the Latin America Plaza was officially inaugurated, located in Yongsan, due to the joint efforts of the Embassies of Latin America. During that time, residents of Seoul, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Municipality of Yongsan and the Korean Council for Latin America and Caribbean KLAC, as well as with the support of LIG Arts Foundation.
Costa Rica participates in the 19th Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) for the Forum East Asia and Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) held in Vientiane Lao PDR In coordination with the General Directorate for Foreign Policy and with the participation of the Embassy of Costa Rica in Korea, the participation to the 19th Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) for FEALAC, concluded with success. The meetings took place between the 20th and 21st of November in Vientiane, LAO PDR. Costa Rica lead in consolidating the efforts towards a strengthened FEALAC. As a member country of the TROIKA, Costa Rica advocated for the international visualization of FEALAC.
Costa Rica and China coordinate the Working Group Meeting for Cooperation on Socio political and Sustainable Development in the framework of FEALAC With the objective of promoting a better understanding and political dialogue, as well as increasing cooperation between East Asia and Latin America, Costa Rica and China presided over the 5th Working Group Meeting on Socio Political and Sustainable Development. Costa Rica was led by the Ambassador to Korea, Rodolfo Solano Quirós and Mr. Joshua Cespedes Viquez.
Embassy of Costa Rica in Korea Promotes dialogue with authorities of Laos Under the framework of the 19th FEALAC SENIOR OFFICIALS MEETING of the Forum for Cooperation of East Asia and Latin America (FEALAC) that took place in Vientiane, LAO PDR, the Embassy saluted, on behalf of the government and peoples of Costa Rica, Mr. Saleumxay Kommasith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador Phoxay Khaykhamphithoune, Permanente Secretary and Ambassador Songhane Luangmuninthone, Director General of Economic Affairs, all from LAO PDR.
