Welcome to AAPBS 2019!
I was appointed
as President at the Annual Meeting held by UNSW Business School in November
First of all, I
would like to convey my special thanks to Dean Tam Kar Yan, HKUST for his
leadership. He made a few important decisions and took necessary leadership for
A big thanks to
Prof. Pasu, Chulalongkorn Business School. He supported the team as an
executive council member. His hands-on knowledge helped the team immensely.
Constitution was revised at the same time, and President’s term has become 2
years, which expect the president to lead the association from a longer-term
presidents could not handle.
My term started
when AAPBS commemorates its 15th anniversary. I would like to remind myself of
the primary purpose of the Association, which is to provide leadership and
representation to advance the quality of business and management education in
the Asia-Pacific region. I would like to contribute to the realization of this.
so, I will confirm where we are now. That is why the Academic Conference to be
held by APU in May 2019 has a conference theme “Qualities of Management and
Business Education in the Asia Pacific region.” Each country must have its own
features of its business and management.
They should be
shared among member schools to move forward.
AAPBS is a
non-profit organization. Unlike AACSB and EFMD, we are not an accreditation
institution. Therefore, it is often said that member schools can hardly find
the significance of being a member.
end, AAPBS provides its members with opportunities to exchange ideas, knowledge
and know-hows through
annual meetings and conferences. The members can utilize the cases that other
members made. Dean’s programs designed for newly appointed deans and directors
are also available. Several schools have started a campus visit program. All of
those occasions and programs have enjoyed a good reputation and are open to any
wonder whether members value all of the above as expected. I also wonder what
the members actually want from AAPBS. This connects with what values AAPBS can
In my 2 year
term, I would like to manage the association, with an emphasis on what AAPBS
can provide the member schools with.
