Sasin team completes ExO Sprint

A select team of faculty and staff from Sasin School of Management recently completed a 10-week ExO Sprint course, the first Education Sprint in Thailand. The intensive course was led by coaches and mentors from ExO Works, a 4-year old New York-based company founded by Salim Ismail, the best-selling author of Exponential Organizations. The course included teams from Sasin School of Management (with Thai President Foods), Dusit Thani Group, and two teams from Ananda Development, the main host and sponsor of the course.

Lars Lin Villebaek, the Copenhagen-based ExO Head Coach for the course, said this was the first Education Sprint in Thailand, the first time an educational institution has taken part in this kind of exponential organization training.

The course took participants out of the day-to-day operations of their organization in order to focus on the future of their business. In this semi-secluded environment, team members looked at global trends and issues, exponential technologies, and disruptive start-ups that might challenge their organization's business model. But equally, it was a chance to do a deep dive into potential new opportunities and revenue streams for the business. And while each team had its own objectives and key results (OKRs) that it was striving to achieve, the teams also worked together during the 10 weeks, sharing and critiquing each others ideas and presentations, and offering advice and perspectives from completely different industries.

Its like we were thrown into a forest and we had to find our way out, said Dr. Tanasak Krabuanrat, who teaches IT at Sasin School of Management and is one of the members of the Sasin ExO Sprint team. There was definitely a lot to learn and a lot of uncertainty for us, but it was a great experience that yielded some real, actionable ideas for Sasin. The Sprint course may be over, but our work implementing these new ideas is just beginning.
