Otago Business School joins the Global Business School
Network
The Otago Business School (OBS) is the first business school in New
Zealand to be invited to join the Global Business School Network (GBSN).
Founded in 2003 by the World Bank, the GBSN is an independent non-profit
organisation based in Washington, DC. Its purpose is to help grow management
and entrepreneurial talent in the developing world to help generate prosperity
there.
The GBSN offers a number of programmes throughout its network including
an online teacher training series, and platforms for sharing information digitally.
Its members include more than 100 leading business schools from around
the globe including the Copenhagen Business School, INSEAD, ESMT Berlin, NUCB
Business School (Japan), Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO, IMD
(Switzerland), the University of Glasgow, and MIT, Stanford University, and
Dartmouth College in the USA.
OBS Dean and Pro-Vice Chancellor Robin Gauld says it is a real privilege
for the Otago Business School to be the first business school in NZ to be invited
to join the GBSN.
The Global Business School Network advances management education with a
focus on economic sustainability, which must be applauded in this day and age.
It is an excellent fit for Otago Business School given our considerable
strengths in sustainability and development.
I look forward to working with other academics around the globe, and
especially those in developing nations to advance their management capabilities,
Professor Gauld says.
OBS holds dual international accreditation through the Association to
Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the European Foundation for
Management Development Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), and is a founding
member of the Partnership in International Management (PIM) network of the
worlds leading business schools.
