Conducting guest lectures and webinars are part of the new norm at MOP College.
The guest lecture on defining success was conducted by Mr. Prasanna Narayanan, Head of Product- Ondot Systems with an objective to understand the pre-requisites to be followed while launching a product. Students were able to comprehend the practical challenges faced by the organisations during a new product launch.
The guest lecture on project life cycle management was conducted by Mr. Ramkumar Sundaram,Vice President,Bank of New York,Mellon Technologies with an objective to understand the different stages in project development. After attending the session, students were able to understand the importance of team building and task allocation for successful project execution.
Several workshops were conducted by the department to impart knowledge on the contemporary aspects of the various management topics.
A workshop session was conducted by Mr. Glenn Roger Carr,Founder & Director Fin Mark with an aim to strengthen the financial knowledge of the students and to improve their chances in placements by supporting their profile through NSE certifications. He also shared information about career opportunities in Banking and Financial Services, importance of share market as a life skill and gave tips on how to clear SEBI/NISM exams
The workshop was conducted by Dr. Uma Rani,a resource person from Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Rural Development, Ministry of Human Resource Development,Government of India with an aim to device a successful business plan in the new era. The students gained hands on experience on the challenges and opportunities prevailing in the current environment and were motivated to optimise the opportunities by starting their own ventures.
Certifications are conducted in specific functional areas to additionally equip students on their subjects of interest. Mr. N C Srivatsan conducted a 3 day course on ¡°Insurance and Risk advisory¡± to the studnets of finance. The course on business analytics, by Mr. Dinesh babu helped students understand the analysis and interpretation of data, that could be fit into any domain of business. Mr. Aravind Selvaraj gave insight to the students on performance and compensation management through his 3- day lecture course.
The webinar " Career in Digital Marketing" was conducted by Mr.Sorav Jain, Founder of Digital Scholar and one of the leading digital marketing experts in the Industry. Mr.Sorav briefed about every job opportunity that Digital Marketing provides. He also explained about Demand Analysis, the pillars of Digital Strategy, Digital Channels, the value of work experience, the pay scales for people in Digital Marketing field and the skills required to prosper in the ever-evolving Digital platforms.
The Post Graduate Department of Business Administration department organised an International Colloquium Series to cope with the changing environment and to adapt to the new normalcy. The first session was facilitated by Dr. Yamuna Devi Puraikalan, Assistant Professor, Dominican University, Chicago on 2nd June 2020. Dr. Yamuna shared the different tools which could be used for effective online teaching and also emphasised students to utilize their time fruitfully and pursue online certification courses.
The second session was addressed by Ms. Kadambari Sathish Founder & CEO, Women Entrepreneurship Development Organisation Pvt Limited; India about the challenges faced by entrepreneurs and suggested ways to cope up with the new normalcy. The students were also motivated to take up entrepreneurship by ideating and discussing various business plans.
The third session was addressed by Ms. Lochana Prabhakar, Vice President, Bank of America, New York about the new normalcy and its challenges in banking sector. The students were also able to appreciate the international practices followed by key people in banking sector to sustain and compete with the changing environment.
The fourth session was addressed by Ms. Lavanya Harrish, HR Specialist, T Mobile, Washington, USA about the new normalcy practices with specific reference to HR internationally. The students were also able to appreciate the international practices followed by key people in HR to sustain and compete with the changing environment.
The fifth session was addressed by Ms. Deepika Chandrasekar, pursuing Diploma in Learning & Development, Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development, UK about the changing Skillsets required during testing timesStudent¡¯s perspective. The colloquium was useful to understand the mind set of students during online mode and coping mechanism for the same.
The sixth session was addressed by Ms. Arthi Deepak, International Program Manager, St George University of London, United Kingdom about the opportunities for pursing higher education in abroad universities. The students were also able to get a deep insight as to how they need to equip themselves to fetch a seat in foreign university and its prospect on placements.
The seventh session was addressed by Mr. Nitin Chandel, Head-BNY Mellon Technology, India about the challenges of leader in organisational decision making during testing times. The session also clearly underlined the strategic decisions taken by leaders during testing times.
MBA department jointly with Madras Management Association organised a webinar on the Scope of Project Management¡± on May 1st 2020 virtually with an objective to introduce the scope, need and importance of project management specifically to management graduates.
M.O.P MBA department organized a ¡°Rendezvous with Writer¡± session on Mar 19, 2021. It hosted the Co-founder of Kolapasi and a budding author Mr. Santhosh Muruganantham on the show discussing about his experience debuting with Desipreneur 0.0 which spoke about his journey as an entrepreneur and helped the students to gain insight on his journey, and initial struggles.
MBA jointly with the undergraduate department of economics organised a panel discussion to showcase the highlights of Union Budget 2021 for students to gain more insights on proposed budget on the fifth of Feb, 2021The discussion was facilitated by industry experts and seasoned practitioners who helped the students understand the impact of the budget to the common man.
¡±Labdhi Bhandari¡± is an endowment competition that every MBA student looks forward to participating to showcase their business plan ideas and formulate a successful business plan. This competition conducted by the MBA department every year, nurtures young talent and gears them to participate in pan National competitions.
The National Level Intercollegiate Management Meet ZEST was organised by the first year students on 5 Feb 2021 virtually for the first time. The event attracted 235 participants from all over the country. Seven events across different management functions were conducted and the winners of each event bagged exciting gift hampers.
MBA¡¯s prestigious event BUSTLE a business quiz competition was conducted exclusively for the B school students virtually. It was hosted sby Mr. R. Arvind on the 8th of April 2021 with over 120 participants all over the country .The winner of the event walked away with exciting cash prizes. |
